Brampton
defeats Lakeshores 9-5,
Wins Semi-Final series 4-0
The Brampton Excelsior’s put the
finishing touches on the visiting Barrie Lakeshores
to complete the sweep in the best of seven semi-final
and will now advance to the finals of the MSL with
their 9 – 5 victory on Friday night in Brampton.
Jeff Shattler (4 goals), Blaine
Manning (2 goals), Dan Teat (2 goals) and Aaron
Wilson with a single provided the firepower offensively
for Brampton.
The Lakeshores had goals from Chad
Culp (2), Luke Wiles, Matt Holman and Darren Halls
in a losing effort.
The Excelsior’s played an extremely
serious and aggressive style from the get go, as
they continued on, with the demeanor that had taken
hold from the previous games second intermission
as they dominated every area of the floor in the
victory.
This was due to the tremendous leadership
of all the veterans, whose character truly came
to the forefront in this series.
Head Coach Troy Cordingley stated,
“We played hard with tremendous discipline and earned
each and every win in this series.”
He continued with, “ Brandon Miller
was absolutely sensational in stopping 40 of the
45 shots he faced and Jeff Shattler not only scored
some very important goals for us in the series,
he excelled in many facets of the game which many
people really never noticed.”
The Excelsior’s will now be able
to kick back and await the winner of the other playoff
semi-final between the Peterborough Lakers and the
St. Regis Indians. This will also give them the
chance to rest and recover from those tiny yet nagging
aches and pains that develop throughout the season.
Vice President of the Excelsior’s,
Tomm Brannon wanted to thank the faithful and loyal
fans for their support in the series and he is looking
forward to building on the positive results that
the fans in Brampton have helped nurture throughout
the year.
He extends a personal invitation
to everyone to continue to make a positive difference
in the upcoming finals and he welcomes emails from
the Excelsiors supporters, which he will gladly
pass along to the team.
