Brampton, ON –
The Peterborough Lakers
successfully defended their Championship and put an
end to the Brampton Excelsiors season with a 12 – 8
victory to take the final series of the MSL 4 games
to 2 games in the best 7.
The Lakers will now
travel to British Columbia to meet Coquitlam for the
Mann Cup as the MSL representative and can make all
MSL fans proud by capturing what is definitely the most
important final of all.
The Excelsior’s season
was filled with numerous hills and valleys and the character
of this year’s team was the underlying factor for the
overall success that they earned.
They were extremely
strong in goal, as Mattamy Homes sponsored goaltenders,
Brandon Miller and Anthony Cosmos were co-recipients
for the best goals against average in the MSL.
Strong leadership was
supplied by a number of core players in various ways
and others matured significantly by taking on roles
that hadn’t necessarily been part of their natural forte
in the past.
The efforts and commitment
by the newest members of the Excelsiors were most welcomed
and the transition was made smoothly by blending into
the organization that was new to them.
They faced adversity
on a number of occasions during the regular season when
things went array, but managed to right the ship accordingly
and became stronger as a team from those experiences.
The contributions that
have been made by the coaching staff, management and
the phenomenal volunteers, that are essential to the
successes that have been enjoyed by all and how important
it is for everyone involved to be a part of this great
organization that continues to compels us to seek the
elusive hardware as Lacrosse Champions.
The Excelsior’s can
look forward to the challenges that will present themselves
for next year, as this season has ended but, the work
for next year will now begin.
The Excelsior’s are
most thankful to all of their quality sponsors and will
continue to take strides toward securing the Mann Cup
due to their generosity and contributions, both past
and in the future.
